Why Splitted?

I didn't want to build another feed. I wanted one question we'd all answer on the same day.

Most apps are built to keep you moving. Another post, another clip, another opinion you'll forget before you've finished reading it. I've lost more evenings to that than I'd like to admit.

What I missed was the opposite: one thing, on one day, that everyone was thinking about at the same time.

That's the whole idea behind Splitted. Every day there's one question. Not a hundred, not a selection picked for you, just one, and it's the same for you, for me, and for someone on the other side of the world.

You pick a side. Then you see how everyone split.

Sometimes you'll be in a comfortable majority. Sometimes you'll find out you're one of very few people who see it your way. Both of those moments teach me more than anything a feed has ever shown me.

There's no algorithm deciding what you see, no follower count, nothing to scroll. When you've answered and read what people had to say, you're done. The question closes, a new one arrives, and the app is happy to let you go.

Some of the questions will be silly. Some won't be. Hot dogs and sandwiches sit right next to things people genuinely disagree about. That's on purpose: the small ones are often where you learn the most about how differently we all think.

Splitted is my attempt at a quieter kind of social app. One question. Everyone. Then log off.
