Privacy Policy

Splitted (“we”, “our” or “us”) is a daily debate app operated by Tribecamp Inc. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Splitted app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We collect information you give us and information created as you use Splitted:

• Account information: your username, email address, and the sign-in method you use (Apple, Google or an email code), including the account identifier that provider gives us. We never receive or store a password.
• Profile information: your voter number, the date you joined, your avatar and avatar colour.
• Your activity: your votes, your predictions of how the crowd will vote, your comments and the votes you give comments, the questions you propose and the proposals you support, invite codes you share or redeem, content you report, and feedback you send us.
• Optional profile information: year of birth, gender and country, only if you choose to add them.
• Usage information: how you use the app, such as the screens and features you open, along with basic device and app information.
• Notification token: if you turn on notifications, a device token that lets us send them to you.

Adding your year of birth, gender or country is entirely optional. Splitted works without them, and you can change or clear them at any time from your profile. We never guess these details, for example from your IP address.

These details are not shown on your profile, next to your votes or next to your comments. We use them only to show how different groups voted on a debate (“how the crowd splits”). A group is only shown once at least 10 people are in it, so no one's individual answer can be picked out. You only see a breakdown for a detail you have filled in yourself.

We do not sell this information or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We use your information to:

• Create your account and sign you in, including emailing you sign-in codes
• Run the daily debate: count votes, score predictions and show results
• Show comments and choose upcoming questions from community proposals
• Moderate content and keep Splitted safe
• Send notifications you have turned on
• Understand how Splitted is used so we can fix problems and improve it
• Respond to your feedback and support requests

We use established providers to run Splitted and protect your data:

• Our servers run on Cloudflare, and account and debate data is stored in a database hosted by Neon
• Data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers
• Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to run Splitted

Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:

• With other users: your username, avatar and comments are visible to other Splitted users. Each comment shows which side you voted for. Otherwise your vote only counts toward the totals.
• With service providers who help us run Splitted, only as needed for their service: Cloudflare (hosting), Neon (database), Resend (sign-in emails), PostHog and Mixpanel (product analytics), Expo, Apple and Google (notifications), and Apple and Google (sign-in).
• For legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or others.

You can:

• See and update your profile details in the app
• Clear your optional profile information at any time
• Turn notifications off in your device settings
• Delete your account from the app
• Ask for a copy of your data, or for your data to be erased, by emailing hello@splitted.app

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honour them.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings › My profile in the app. When you do:

• Your account is closed immediately and you are signed out
• Your avatar is removed and your profile no longer appears in the app
• Votes you cast stay counted in debate results
• This cannot be undone

To have your remaining personal information, such as your email address and optional profile details, erased from our systems, email hello@splitted.app and we will handle your request promptly.

Splitted is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it. See our Child Safety Standards for more.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app.
